About Shopstr Markets
Permissionless commerce built on Nostr and Bitcoin, with marketplaces and products for different communities.
Commerce without gatekeepers
Shopstr Markets is a permissionless marketplace service building on Nostr to enable peer-to-peer commerce using Bitcoin. Its mission is to reduce barriers to trade, connect buyers and sellers directly, and support privacy and financial sovereignty. The services described on this site use open protocols rather than a single centralized marketplace account system.
Nostr provides the communication layer and a portable identity based on your keys. Bitcoin payments are supported through the Lightning Network and Cashu ecash. These technologies are the foundation of the marketplaces introduced here; the FAQ explains how accounts, payments, listings, and encrypted messages work in practice.
Our marketplaces and products
Shopstr is the general-purpose permissionless marketplace featured on this site. It supports a broad range of goods, including electronics, art and collectibles, books, and clothing. Self-sown is a marketplace for farmers, food makers, and artisan producers, with direct payments and no platform fees.
Naughty Goat Co. is a food brand and storefront, not a general-purpose marketplace. The product featured here is Honey Cajeta, a Mexican goat-milk caramel made with locally sourced ingredients and supporting regenerative farms. The home page links to Shopstr, Self-sown, and Naughty Goat Co. so you can explore each product in its own setting.
Understanding your role
Marketplace sellers create listings with descriptions, images, categories, and shipping requirements. Merchants handle fulfillment themselves and specify the shipping options available for each listing. Buyers can contact sellers through the marketplace messaging system, including to discuss an order, request a refund, or initiate a return.
Users remain responsible for protecting their private keys and wallets and for choosing the Nostr relays they use. Public listings and messages published to relays may remain there according to each relay's retention policy. Read the FAQ and Privacy Policy for more detail, and use the official Nostr and GitHub links to find the project's community and open-source work.
